Devin is a 28-year-old trucking company owner from Houston, Texas.

Jenn and Devin discovered early on that they had a lot in common, which led to a “unique connection” between the two that they said most people probably wouldn’t understand.

Devin also impressed Jenn by talking seriously about wanting to get married and start a family in the near future.

Devin has angered Jenn’s other bachelors and has been called arrogant and disrespectful. However, Jenn has appreciated how Devin focuses on her and makes her his top priority.

Devin Strader reveals how he was cast The Bachelorette




Devin revealed on the August 8 episode of the podcast “Bachelor Happy Hour” that his casting for Jenn’s season was actually “a funny story.”




Devin revealed that his best friend’s wife, Alexis, works for him and pulls the strings.




“I hired her a little over a year ago and she said her first task as a newly single man looking for love was to get me on her all-time favorite show. She’s been watching it since she was a kid and that was The Bachelorette,” Devin said to Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt.




“So I got a call – thought it was spam, and then I got a few more and didn’t answer.”




Devin said that the casting department then called and contacted Alexis.

“She contacted me and said, ‘Hey, you should probably call these guys back. They seem like they’re actually real people,'” Devin said.

“I get a lot of spam calls from my company… and when I look back, I have a missed voicemail from someone who said, ‘Hey, I promise I’m a real person. This is real. Call me back if you’re interested.'”

So Devin picked up the phone, called back and added, “And sure enough, I ended up on one of my (newly discovered) favorite shows of all time.”

Devin Strader was raised by a single mother




Devin’s mother became pregnant while in college and had to drop out to raise him. Devin’s mother worked two jobs while raising two sons, and Devin had trouble growing up with his father, who had emigrated from Mexico.




“I wasn’t a bad kid, but when I was little, I just didn’t understand those things about (my mother). I always idolized my dad… and I saw how much that hurt my mom because she was the one who took care of me my whole life,” Devin recalls.




“She never wavered, no matter how much I freaked out or how much trouble I got into… She took better care of me than any father figure I’ve ever had.”




Devin describes himself as “family-oriented.” He admits that he is loud and talkative today because that’s what he had to be for his little brother growing up.




Devin would like to have a wife and family of his own one day and wants his future marriage to last.

Grant, who competes against Devin, The Bachelorette Season 21, recently defended Devin after dramatic arguments occurred during Jenn’s first week of dates in Australia.




“I think Devin was fixated on Jenn… I feel like Devin (Sam McKinney) and I were the guys who were really fixated,” Grant admitted on a recent episode of the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast.




Grant patted Devin on the back for having the courage to do his own thing and fight for Jenn despite strong reactions.




“I felt like if Devin felt something specific, he would say it and do it that way,” Grant told Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt.




“If he feels something specific, he will say it and let you know – and that’s just the way I am! So I respected that.”

However, Grant said he remained “neutral” and did not really choose a side when the drama erupted.

“Nobody is owed anything… If someone feels like they’re owed time, like, ‘I don’t owe you time…’ I’m trying to be with Jenn, so that’s how I’m going to approach it,” Grant explained.

“If someone feels they are entitled to time, they should get in line,” he added.

Devin Strader struggles with body image issues




As a child, Devin described himself as a “pretty heavy kid” and was very insecure about his weight and appearance.




“I almost didn’t want to look in the mirror,” Devin admits.

Devin has worked really hard to change that, but he still faces some setbacks to this day.

Jenn apparently gave Devin the confidence and inspiration he needed to dance nearly naked for her in front of a live audience.

Jenn Tran dished out superlatives for her bachelorette party during her recent appearances on the podcasts “The Viall Files” and “Bachelor Happy Hour.”




Jenn told Nick Viall that Devin was the “smartest” of all her suitors.




And Jenn told Joe and Serena that Devin was the “funniest” of their men. She, like many viewers, compared Devin to comedian Pete Davidson.

Ben Higgins doesn’t think Devin Strader is right for Jenn Tran




Ben, who in The Bachelor Season 20, confessed that he doesn’t think Devin is right for Jenn.




“I don’t think he’s right for Jenn,” said Ben The Bachelorette Alumnus Rachel Recchia during the July 23 episode of “The Ben & Ashley I: Almost Famous Podcast.”




Ben continued, “I also don’t think he’s the most approachable guy because he’s so loud and wants to exude so much confidence and communicate.”




Ben thought Devin was “way too harsh” and “way too fast.” The Bachelorette process and added of the drama: “I was like, ‘Devin, back off. This is crazy.'”




Rachel agreed with Ben that she had noticed major “warning signs” with Devin and that he “scared” her.
