1010 WINS reporter says man randomly attacked her in Hudson Square

Kelly Dillon, a reporter for radio station 1010 WINS, posted a TikTok describing a brutal attack she says happened in Hudson Square on August 15. The attack appears to have been completely random, and police – who do not typically release the names of crime victims – confirmed they have a report of an incident at the same location where Dillon says she was attacked.

An unknown suspect is at large, police said Our city in the city center.

“A few days ago, I was attacked on the streets of New York City – randomly, by a man,” Dillon, 40, told her followers on August 19. She then described her version of the incident in great detail. She said she left the radio station near Hudson St. and King St. around midnight and was heading home when she was allegedly attacked.

“I hear someone running behind me, so I look over and out of the corner of my eye I see what looks like a man. It looks like he’s jogging. A lot of people jog in this area… it’s right off the West Side Highway, a popular running route. So I moved to the side to let them pass,” Dillon said. “And then I feel someone grab a big chunk of my hair and grab it so hard that it literally throws me onto the pavement. It happened so, so fast.”

Her adrenaline levels spiked, she added. After the man ran away, Dillon reportedly screamed for help. People responding to the calls told her her elbow was bleeding profusely, she said. She was taken by paramedics in stable condition to Lenox Health Greenwich Village, a 24-hour emergency facility.

In the caption to her TikTok video, Kelly said that since she is a journalist with 20 years of experience, women who have experienced similar assaults should contact her and tell their stories. “You can email me at [email protected],” she wrote.
