10 Forgotten AEW Wrestlers You Don’t Remember At All

10 Forgotten AEW Wrestlers You Don’t Remember At All

Insert jokes here about Tony Khan hiring every wrestler in the world.

Criticism of Khan’s haphazard approach to roster management is valid, but it’s not going to change now. AEW is five years old and literally hundreds of employees have walked through the doors. Frankly, not all of them get one of those shiny #AllElite graphics. You probably forgot a few who did, though!

Old episodes of Dark and Dark: Elevation are a reminder that Tony cast a wide net. These shows didn’t usually draw large audiences (at least not consistently), so it’s fun to dig into the archives and find some names that even the most diehard wrestling fan might have trouble remembering. For example, do you remember a one-off masked gimmick or who his opponent was that night?

Current WWE frontman Cody Rhodes also makes an appearance because he wrestled an unknown person on an episode of Dynamite in 2020. It’s a fight from Cody’s history books that no one will talk about in detail in his Hall of Fame induction speech, that’s for sure.

Keep a record at home and see how many of these people you remember correctly!

Danny Limelight is in the spotlight.

Indy regular Danny jumped on the AEW train in 2021, immediately securing a spot on less demanding programs like Dark and Dark: Elevation. He wrestled 18 matches for the company that year, and then… OOF! Limelight disappeared in a puff of smoke and returned to the independents.

Dan’s opponents on Dark included NXT’s Ethan Page, Konosuke Takeshita, Christopher Daniels and even Jon Moxley. Limelight also had Matt and Mike Sydal fight Takeshita, Michael Nakazawa and Kenny Omega in one issue. The guy shared the ring with some of All Elite’s best back in the day. At least he can brag about that.

Here’s the thing: Danny goes completely unnoticed by all but the most diehard AEW fans. You’d have to be a fan who devours everything Tony Khan produces to even know who Limelight is. Cool Spider-Man tattoo though; or maybe it’s an homage to 2000s nu-metal band Cold.
